HOT or NOT review

My thoughts are my own and not influenced by others.

I don't know if you remember using Hot or Not when younger, but I do. Hot or Not was site you uploaded pictures of yourself and people answer if they think your hot or not as the name applies. In the past (2007) it was used by mostly by the younger generation and could create a esteem boost for someone that might not feel their looks were up to par. I was about 18 when I started to use the site. If you haven't been on the site for awhile they have had some new features added that I think you will like!

In the past it was simply a rating site but over time it has evolved into a sort of dating service. If you click that you think someone is hot and they do the same for you the app (we'll get to that in a bit.) will notify both parties that a match has been made. In that case you can choose to meet and it may end up being a real life love connection.

They now offer an app for iPhone and Android and you can create a login from the app (don't you love when you don't need a pc?) and upload pictures. Before photos are uploaded you can surf through profiles from users close to you but can't select hot until you add photos of your own.

It shows one of their pictures and their score, friends you may share, and interests. You can link the Hot or Not app to your facebook to be able to find the friends in common. The circle with 4 squares takes you to a view to see thumbnails of all the pictures of that profile

You can drag from the bottom for more information. It gives interest/ about me/more shared friends details/ location details/ and the setting saying if they are on or offline currently (can be turned off in privacy) will all be listed here.

When adding your own picture you have to click the 3 lines in the left to get the menu to appear. If you connect your facebook from the get go your profile images appear.  If you did like me and signed up through email first then you get this screen.
I like that you can add from facebook even if you didn't link it when you first signed up. The thing is I accidentally imported every picture I was ever tagged in (be careful!) If you do like me and accidentally upload pictures you don't want on there you can delete them.

Hot or Not has now become a great tool for meeting others in your area! You can also just rate pictures for the fun of it with no strings attached and still use it for a ego booster. This site isn't just for the 20 year olds they have members of all ages!

Check out Hot or Not on Facebook.

What are you waiting for? Get out there and start rating!

Darling Diva Polish The Opera House #swatch and #review

I have another polish for review today from one of my favorite indie polish makers. This one is called the Opera House. Here is a little about the polish:

Part of my Battlestar Galactica themed polishes, this is The Opera House. This polish represents the golden light ethereal scene of the Opera House. This has to be one of my personal favorites so far.

This is meant to be a top coat. You could have it opaque in about 3 coats.

This shimmery white polish is full of various sized hexes and squares in white, golden holographic, and gold. Some of the glitters may curl a bit in the bottle, this does not affect how they lay on the nail with your normal routine (basecoat, layering color, glitter polish, gelous (if you so choose) and top coat). Because of the size of the glitters this is meant to be thicker. If you find it a bit thick please add thinner until it reaches your consistency.

**some of the little gold squares do look curled in the bottle but they will lay flat on the nail**

This polish is currently on last call status (Which means when its gone its gone.) at $6 a bottle.

Neater feeder giveaway

download (2)
Being a mother of a toddler AND having a small dog its to say the least challenging to keep the puppy food IN the bowls and the messes OFF the floor. I have spent the 13 years with kids and dogs (and a cat) making many a messes all over the kitchen floor with food and water (the animals make the messes, too!). Or your walking and accidentally kick a bowl and food and water gets EVERYWHERE... Neater Feeder has solved ALL of our problems! They have invented a system that will protect against spills and leaks.
  photo 1 (17)

The Neater Feeder comes in two colors to match with your kitchen; burgundy or gold. The Neater Feeder is designed to keep food and water INSIDE the system. Walls are built to keep splashes from ruining floors and/or furniture. Any food spilled will stay in the grate and not end up all over the floor.
  photo 2 (15)
Water stays below to keep off your floors! This way it keeps your food and water separated. No one likes to clean up soggy food. YUCK! The Neater Feeder is easily washable with soap and water. And also all parts and bowls are dishwasher safe. The system is made up of recyclable polypropylene plastic and the bowls are stainless steel.
  photo 3 (9)
I have always got angry with my old bowls filling her water up and when I would lay it down; water would spill out everywhere! BUT with Neater Feeder there is a spot to put your bowl down without spilling it everywhere. With the feeder you can personalize your pets name. Feeders are available in many different sizes to accommodate cats and dogs; from the tiniest to the biggest dog. You are also able to purchase extenders to make the feeder taller and more at a good height which helps digestion. To purchase your very own Neater Feeder click HERE. Find Neater Feeder of Facebook,Twitter, and YouTube
Neater Feeder has given us a chance for my fans of the USA only to win one for your own! Any size and any color! Giveaway will run from 1/25- 2/5

I don't know about you but this thing sounds awesome. Unfortunately it wouldn't work with my dog as he takes a bite of food and runs with each bite. So if your pets aren't like mine spoil them with this awesome bowl.

BornPretty store 3 Star/Round/Heart Rhinestones Acrylic UV Nail Glue Clamp Kit

I received the following product in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts are my own.

Another review from BornPretty store. I love that they have so many products at such awesome prices it takes me for ever to pick what I want! I have spent a day on their site before. Everything is so affordable and I know that when I first started nail art cost was a big thing to me and supplies locally are expensive. When I first heard about BornPretty store I fell in love! When they said they wanted to work with us in reviews I was even more ecstatic! Not only do I review from them but I also buy from them and check them first for products that I am hunting for. After looking into details on my ebay I see I actually have been buying from them for years on ebay and let me tell you I have never been disappointed with any products I have gotten from them.

I have been looking to add some bling to my nails and this set is perfect when you are first starting out like me and want a little bit of everything. This set goes for about $8.58 which is amazing with what comes in it.

I had some stars and studs given to me by my friend from IG in an nail mail trade we did and I had been using tweezers with some disastrous results. I couldn't keep a hold of them and dropped them all over the place. In this set It came with these nail art tongs that are fine tipped! I love these things they are amazing! I can pick up a gem and put it where I want it without all the fighting I had to do with the tweezers.

It also comes with these tubes of adhesive which I love the packaging but I am not so skilled at using nail glue. This stuff is strong and when I opened it I accidentally added way too much pressure and got this all over my hands which of course I couldn't just wash it off. I had to ask the old man for help on how to get this off my skin. We ended up using about 5 things to try to get it off and it came down to carb cleaner. Old man says lamp oil will get this off so if you do like I do and make a mess lamp oil would be a good thing to keep around before opening.

The stars are my favorite of course! I have an obsession with them and use them more than anything else.

This is a close up of one of the stars from this set and 2 stars from a wheel I purchased from the site.

The heart wheel is going to be my best friend in the coming weeks with Valentines day coming up. So look out for some nail art coming your way with studs and hearts.

This mani started with 2 studs but because I used clear coat and not the glue I lost one. Overall I think it looks better with just one.

I really love how these can make a mani so cool. I am going to keep on practicing with these and incorporating them into more and more mani's.

FRAAS FALL-HOLIDAY 2013 COLLECTION Metallic Zebra scarf

I received the following product in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts are my own.

I received this scarf in black and I am loving it. Its longer and wider than most scarves in my collection which means Its warmer when bundled up outside. Because of its size it offers more wearing options such as a wrap not just a scarf. The material is soft and soothing and is warm in the winter but I don't see it being too hot in the summer. I love the feel of this scarf against my skin and the animal print is on trend with current fashion trends but isn't so extreme that it would be too much for some outfits (unless you're wearing zebra head to toe... that I wouldn't recommend.)

Here is some information about the scarf.

(New York, NY/Wüstenselbitz, Germany): Over the years, season after season, scarves and wraps have been enhancing the wardrobes of celebrities, trendsetters and fashion leaders. Scarves are adding the excitement of an eye-catching accessory to every look from jeans to dresses, and wraps are the new perennial outerwear. As the leading company in this category, FRAAS designs a collection that amazes and impresses the marketplace season after season. "The Fall and Holiday grouping features many fresh and alluring options and we are experiencing a very positive response,” says Ken Krieger, VP of Sales for the innovative international manufacturer and marketer of woven and knit scarves, capes, ponchos, stoles, ruanas, wraps and gloves. “Creating distinctive, beautiful and affordable products for varied tastes, budgets and climates has always been a main concern for us at FRAAS,” adds Aimee Zucchetti, Brand and Sales Manager for the company. “We enjoy helping consumers renew their wardrobe with brand new and exciting products.

The newest FRAAS line features distinctive styling that updates and/or coordinates with existing wardrobes as well as the up-to-the minute fashion. There are a variety of yarns and techniques so that every climate and preference is addressed with retails ranging from $26-$100, therefore many affordable options. There is no other fashion accessory that makes such a strong and long lasting fashion statement at this price point! Scarves are the savviest accessory for both gift and self purchase and with so many available sizes, color ways and shapes, one can create a distinctive look with the way it is tied or layered and matched with an outfit. Some do double duty and can be used as a shawl or scarf and can be discreetly packed for travel or dining...even a cool office. Wraps and related products such as the ruana, cape, poncho or stole silhouette are a big story going forward and work alone, as a layering component, or as outerwear. Consumers also love the ease of the infinity silhouette; therefore several options have been included for 2013.

FRAAS is on the mark with its color palette and trends which include COUNTRY ETIQUETTE (rich autumnal shades), NOUVEUX GENERATION (including many pop colors and bold looks) and PALACE GRANDEUR (an embellished and opulent story). Yarns (woven and knit options) include Cashmink(TM), acrylic, modal, viscose, cotton, poly, wool and cashmere. Patterns and accents include touches of metallic, updated plaids, unusual animal prints, elegant abstracts, florals, color blocking and ombre effects, menswear with a twist, geometrics, dots and stripes. Digital prints are gaining popularity and reversible styles appeal to many consumers due to their flexible styling. Novelty techniques such as unusual fringe, crinkling, gathering, open work, scrunch, boucle and loops adorn select styles. Velvet is also back on the scene and looks super rich. Technologically advanced knit gloves continue in even more sophisticated looks. Textured and metallic styling is offered at a retail just under $30. These gloves work with touch screen devices while keeping the wearer warm, well-accessorized and looking great. They are something not to be missed as a self or gift purchase.

360528 is the Metallic Zebra style. Its pretty use of metallic yarns (mixed with acrylic and viscose) combines with the always popular animal print, to create a 12x80 inch accessory that works beautifully as both a wrap and scarf. Three color ways are featured including a black combo, as well as gold and silver. Great for dress up, special occasions' or just for fun, it retails for $35.

From its bases in New York, Paris, London, Wüstenselbitz, Toronto and Shanghai, FRAAS' parent company V. Fraas’ design teams—one of which is dedicated entirely to the FRAAS brand—travel to major shows and forecasting seminars throughout the globe to identify new trends and develop products that are perfectly attuned to fashion and customer demand. The 5th generation/130-plus year old company’s research team, meanwhile, works busily to develop and discover new yarns, fabrics and methods for manufacturing products that are of outstanding quality. Truly internationally oriented, the company boasts sales subsidiaries and satellite offices in New York, Toronto,London, Paris, Berlin, Denmark, Italy, India, Hong Kong, Shanghai and Tokyo.

I highly recommend this scarf to anyone that loves to wear them. This scarf kept me warm during our sub zero temperatures this winter so its great for any climate.

FRAAS products are sold worldwide via department and specialty stores as well as online retailers. You may also order from the company by calling 212-575-0191. Select styles are available on fraas.com and amazon.com

Nail Polish Wars. Battle of the silver bar glitter

I got my hands on Sparkle me silver from Sephora by OPI at Big Lots the other day and I noticed that I thought I had a few things similar. So to my collection I ran and pulled out the polishes I wanted to compare.

Sparkle me Silver
Silver Rainbows (Read my review here)
Stars at night

I swatched these to compare them as I wanted to see if they were dupes. Also this comes in handy if you cant decide from just looking at the bottles of which to get.

isis essentials Senza Età

This product was provided in exchange for an honest review.

I have been looking for an anti-aging system for quite a while. Being 29, I feel like I really need to start using one. I have hesitated because of price and because there are so many out there. I was given the chance to test out this product. At first I really liked it. I ended up using it for about a month.

At first I loved the way the face cream would tighten my face. I actually felt like it was doing something. After about a week and a half..I noticed the changes in my skin. I have very sensitive skin and I break out easy. I started to break out and after that I stopped using it until my face cleared up. About a week later I tried the face cream again..and a few days later, same thing. I have now given up on the face cream..nightly. I still use it every few days which is good since its costly and wont make me break out as bad. As far as the eye roller..I love it. It also has the same tightening effect with no reaction. I would like to continue to use it for now. I am always up for experimenting with these things; however with very sensitive skin I am always hesitant.  All in all I wouldn't grade both products together.. the eye roller is definitely getting 5 out of 5 stars. The face cream I would give 3 out of 5. Thank you for the opportunity to test this product.

This is the 5th polish I am reviewing from Polish TBH.
See the other reviews:
80's Party at Tiffany's
Polar Express

Of course I fell in love with this polish when I first saw it! Its purple, holo, and glitter!!!! What I found after applying it amazed me as I was not expecting it.

Polar Express by Polish TBH #swatch and #review

I received the following Nail polish in exchange for an honest review.

This is the 4th polish I am reviewing from Polish TBH.
See the other reviews:

Polar express is a night Midnight blue polish with gold and navy micro glitters.

I used 2 coats both with and without topcoat. This polish dries matte and the glitters tend to rise to the top so its slightly textured.

Let Me Get This Off My Chest Book #review

I recently got offered a chance to review Let Me Get This Off My Chest by Margaret Lesh. This is my sole and honest opinion of the book.

Starting out, I was intrigued. This is supposed to be a nitty, gritty retelling of a breast cancer survivor's experiences. What it became was something else entirely.

Let Me Get This Off My Chest cycles through personal experience and helpful advice. Lesh has an amazing memory for time, place, and dialog. She keeps a positive outlook throughout the retelling of her experience. There are several links and resources at the end of most chapters so the reader can follow up with additional research.

My only complaint: This book is completely VOID of details. It kept eluding to the fact that specifics would follow,  but they never came. One example of this is the chapter on sex (after surgery). Lesh writes a two paragraph intro that says (paraphrasing), "This is the chapter you've been waiting for. I'm going to tell you all about it." Then, she follows with a large print, two page telling on how she didn't want to have sex and then when she did, she took it slow and wore a bra. THAT'S IT. Where's the action? The details?

....so that last example made me seem like a pervert. There are better instances of shallow writing. Cancer card! She makes another painfully short chapter on how she once played the cancer card to get her hairdresser to move up her appointment by mentioning her chemotherapy. I'm probably sounding bitter now, but I just think that there could be some more harrowing tales of her abusing her cancer powers to push through a line of wheelchair bound children at Disney Land.

All in all, I give Let Me Get This Off My Chest a 2.5/5 on my completely made up review scale.

80's Party at Tiffany's by Polish TBH #swatch and #review

I received the following Nail polish in exchange for an honest review.

This is the 3rd polish I am reviewing from Polish TBH.
See the other reviews:

This glitter packed polish is full of matte glitters in neon stars, hexes in various sizes, squares. Because this polish has such a diverse mix of colors it will look different each and every time you wear it.
The base with this one is thick so dab application method is the best.

I swatched 80's party at tiffany's over 2 coats SinfulColors Easy going and 2 coats of Sally hansen Innocent Nude on pointer finger.

From top to bottom I used:
2 swipes
1 dab
1 dab
1 swipe

As you can see with the dab method I got more glitter and a more diverse coverage and glitter shapes.

Keep reading for some Macros!

Dark & Difficult Times by Polish TBH #swatch and #review

Part of the DIAGON ALLEY COLLECTION POLISHES

I received the following Nail polish in exchange for an honest review.

I was sent a few colors to review from Polish TBH. I loved opening the package with no clue what 5 colors I was going to get to review. I Immediately connected this polishes name to Harry Potter and I was right! I loved the books growing up and the movies as well. So I was very excited to get this.

Here is some information about this polish:

Dark & Difficult Times This is a darkened blue gray with a mix of holo black and charcoal glitters as well as red and green color shifting flakies. Reminiscent of the gloomy skies seen through out the Harry Potter series. The name comes from a favorite quote from Albums Dumbledore "Dark and difficult times lie ahead. Soon we must all face the choice between what is right and what is easy."

Monster Jam in Evansville Indiana Jan 10th review

The smell..the rumble in your chest and the way your heart starts to pump blood when you hear the engines start up. It cant be anything other than Monster Jam! My family and I have been to several shows here at the Ford Center, and Roberts Stadium before it was tore down. We are also advid watchers of Monster Jam on television..my boys love these monster trucks!  There are pros and cons for watching the event in the Ford Center Stadium. If you have ever watched on tv, then you know how fast the trucks can get and the air they get when making jumps and freestyle performing.  The trucks are so big, they dont have much room to maneuver. One truck was able to do donuts..the others tried, but weren't able to pull it off to well. To be honest the stadium is just too small for the trucks to perform to their full potential. We are talking about a truck that is 10, 000lbs or 5 tons..about 12 to 13 feet tall, with tires 5 feet tall! Pushing out about 2000 horsepower! And because the smell of the alcohol fuel is strong they have started putting in scented options. Last nights show was full of cherry scented air, along with the alcohol smell of course! Some pros for the performance were that the Monster Jam series are starting to bring in more popular drivers and professional teams. Actually the driver of the winning truck, Nitro Hornet, Darren Basil, used to drive the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle truck on tv. They did have quite a few more popular trucks last year and I'm sure that they are just trying to mix it up. I did think it was awesome that after Darren won, he wanted to give away his trophy to an audience member and just so happen to walk right down our aisle!  Pretty cool to be that close to a driver. That gesture just keeps the audience locked in and participating in the show. Which brings the next pro, the family experience! Kids of all ages and adults and parents enjoy the show together.  Although it is VERY loud! If your child or yourself are sensitive to loud noises..better bring some ear plugs. The indoor stadium is lovely when you have a nasty rainy day like we did last night, but there are perks to outdoor racing also. Noise and room temperature are among those things. They have to ventilate the arena from truck fumes so in January it does get a little chilly. It is really just nice to have somewhere local this show goes to because it starts to get pretty pricey traveling to a show. Although tickets are fairly priced, $5 for kids and $20 for adults, thats just where it starts. Bringing me to the final con..how expensive everything is.  You expect souvenirs to cost a little more..but $15 for a regular size cotton candy with a Gravedigger flimsy foam hat. Or a $15 Gravedigger cup with a snowcone..really? I took three kids with me, that gets real expensive,  real fast. Just to get one regular size Coke and one popcorn was $7.50. They do have alcohol at the events and I cant even imagine how much they were. To be honest I wasn't there to drink beer, it is nice to have that option for the people who are, but I was more worried about spending my money on things that would make it a more enjoyable experience for the kids. To me thats what it's all about. All in all just being around the trucks and hearing them is an exciting time. The biggest downfall was paying the $45 for 3 bags of cotton candy..and the overall expense of the food, drinks, and souvenirs. My kids had a great time, although it was a little too loud for one of them. The show started at 7pm, doors opened at 6pm which is nice when you like to get there a little early and settle it. It lasted a little more than 2 hours. Definitely worth the money it costs to get into the show. Thanks for letting me review the Monster Jam show. We had a great time and will definitely be going back next year!
