Family Fun and Easter Eggs crafting! (Tutorial)

Easter is one of those Holiday that seems to bring mixed emotions if you are Christian you will feel sadness and joy for the Resurrection,  now if you are pagan (new age) and you celebrate Eostre, it's a merry time to celebrate Eastre and welcome Spring, yet MOST religions allow their kids to enjoy some harmless egg crafting and hunt. When my children were little Easter was a BIG thing, we would spent a week crafting and painting eggs, cooking, baking  and getting ready for the different "Pascua" stages. I should mention that my country is Catholic in their majority so the celebrations are quite different, but the egg craft and hunting  are alike and  so is the big marketing behind chocolate bunnies and eggs from huge companies like, M&M, Hershey's, Resse's, Cadbury, Lindtz and even Peeps are  known worldwide, even in small third world countries like mine. Lets just try to keep some traditions alive.

 What you will need:

Wordless crafting.

4th of July crafting madness.

At work we are having a contest of decorating our managers desk. Being as no one had cash to put up I suggested we make everything from cardboard as its free and I had paint and brushes so we started working on it! Well in the end we did have to get some more supplies but it was less than $5 for more paint as we were running out of white red and blue and we needed darker red and some peach. These are pictures as the project went on, more will be coming soon as we did 9 mini flags from history. Ignore the tape on uncle sam we are waiting for his arm to dry so we can remove it.

Uncle sam was drawn by Joy on my team and then painted by me. We split of the card board and all did some work several people cut out stars and painted them. We also Had a few doing flags. The declaration is my baby still trying to do it but running out of room so I'm having to squish down the font. Happy 4th everyone. Do you do anything to decorate at work?

Saving money when buying craft supplies.

Tip of the day. Check size vs cost. These are .53 a piece and 2oz a 8oz is 2.47 each. If you buy 4 little ones it's 2.12 and saves you .35 every 8oz. I needed white,red,blue,peach,dark red. So by buying smaller I got just the amount of paint I needed for less than if I bought 8oz of white,red,blue. 2oz of dark red,peach =8.47+tax but I got what I need for 3.18+tax. That's more than half!!!

Well I had been making a lot of monkeys and the madness has spread to my cubby at work. He's been making the larger ones.

I was online looking up crochet patterns and I saw something that inspired me!

So I had been considering it for awhile and I thought this was perfect! and here is the final product!

things needed: 

Hair clips of choice

Glue gun and glue ( I used the $3 one from Walmart.)

2 different color yarns, scissors, crochet hook.


first you crochet your spiral using the tutorial linked by the first image.
Once you have your spiral you will heat up the hot glue gun and then put the glue
on the bottom of the flower in the place you want the clip to sit. (This is based on preference
on how you want the spiral to sit in your hair.) Then press on the hair clip. I used a shirt to press down with
(preferably a scrap shirt you don't care about.) because the clip got very hot from the glue. In about 20 mins I
was able to put this in my hair. To me it looks like a flower more than
spiral but I love it!
