New Nail polish subscription box? YES please!

Q: Who came up with the idea for this box? Was it something that was done for fun or was there a need in the community that the founder saw and wanted to fulfill?
A: the idea for the box came from me, Esther of PhLL. I personally have been really into subscription boxes lately, and I wanted to create a special luxe type box that would combine the creativity of multiple brands in one place. There are many different boxes in the indie market, but I think we have something unique. (see below)

Q: Will the brands change out or will it always be Philly Loves Lacquer, Smokey Mountain Lacquers, Digital Nails, and Northern Star Polish?
A: Right now, these four brands will be permanent. Depending on how well the box is received, I may look to add, rotate, or feature in the future, however, I see a lot of rotation in the sub boxes offered these days, and I thought it would be nice to have consistency.

Q: The description is a little ambiguous. Is it a monthly subscription of 4 themed lacquers and then every month (every 2 months) you get 4 themed + 4 more (for a total of 8)? Or is it a bi-monthly subscription of 9 lacquers sent every other month (4 themes + 4 more).
A: I had a hard time coming up with a description originally, since bi-monthly could mean either twice a month or every two months. So, that being said, this is 4 bottles of polish (one from each brand), plus 4 extras (one from each brand), shipped every two months. The extras will be anything from matching accessories, handmade personal care products (cuticle oil, lotions, lip balms, etc), nail art tools, candles, etc. The timeline of the box right now is October/Halloween, December/Holidays, February/Valentine's Day, and so on.

Q: Why every two months? Why not have it be monthly?
A: I feel like the monthly box is the norm for indie subscription boxes. When you're working with a product like indie nail polish, there are a lot of factors to think about. I decided to make it every two months because I wanted to make sure that the four of us were putting out the best products possible, and with that came making sure we all had enough time to put out said product. You have to factor in a lot of things when doing something like this. You have to account for blogger coverage (and the time it takes on their end, because their time is just as valuable, if not more, than ours), testing and lead time, and life happening in general. A lot of things can happen in 4 weeks that could jeopardize the box, but by having it every two months instead, we're making it easier on ourselves the makers, and also easier on the wallets of our customers.

Q: Are the 4 polishes exclusive to The Beauty Quartet or are they polishes already in the core lines of the brands?
A: the 4 polishes will be exclusive to the box, and will not be available for sale outside of the box. Since it will be purchased by pre-order, we will have an exact amount made, and any extras will only be for replacements if the polish is damaged in transit.

Q: How will people pre-order in September? Will there be a supplementary website?
A: The BQB will be available for pre-order on the Philly Loves Lacquer website.

Q: Will this subscription service run through Paypal with automatic payments (like A Box, Indied) or will it be pay at checkout only? If the latter, will people who have subscribed to the last box get a priority to order the next box before new people?
A: The "subscription" will be pay at checkout. This allows people to buy it only if they want to, and not be locked in for a certain amount of time. The pre-order runs for 15 days, which allows everyone a chance to purchase the box. There will not be priority for those who ordered previously, as it is first come first serve.

Q: Will photos of the polishes/boxes be available during the pre-order or for people to look at?
A: Absolutely! This is *NOT* a mystery box by any means. We have hand selected several bloggers to receive a full box to swatch and review, and there will be plenty of coverage before the pre-order begins to allow everyone to see what will be available and to determine whether they would like to purchase the box or not. We'll be plastering photos all over our Facebook pages, Instagram accounts, and in nail polish groups on Facebook and Reddit.

Q: Will individual polishes be available for sale at any point through Beauty Quartet or through the individual brands?
A: I am not 100% clear on the question...but I know that each of our respective shops will maintain normal operation. As I mentioned before, however, the polishes in the BQB will only be available in the box and not for individual purchase.

Q: Will boxes be available at the same time each month or will people need to watch X site for updates?
A: The BQB timeline will always be as follows: pre-order begins on the 1st and runs to the 15th, and the box will ship on the 1st of the next month, so for the first box, pre-order runs Sept 1-15, and it ships on Oct 1st. For the second box, pre-order will run Nov 1-15, and will ship on Dec 1st. For the 3rd box, pre-order will run Jan 1st-15th, and will ship Feb 1st. The BQB will always be sold in the Philly Loves Lacquer shop, and you'll always find updates on all of our brand's Facebook pages and other social media.

Q: I know it says international shipping is available; are there any countries that are excluded?
A: As of right now, no. This may be reevaluated as time goes on, as I know there are a couple countries where it could take more than a month to arrive. I have not personally sent to any of these particular countries before, but there's a first for everything.

Q: Will tracking information be available for the USA boxes? How about international?
A: US orders will be shipped via USPS Priority Flat Rate, with tracking, and will come with insurance of $100. International orders will be shipped via USPS First Class International. The following countries will have tracking available to them: Australia, Belgium, Canada, Croatia, Estonia, Finland, Germany, Great Britain & Northern Ireland, Hungary, Israel, Latvia, Lithuania, Malaysia, Malta, Netherlands, New Zealand, Singapore, Spain, and Switzerland. International customers will also have the option of adding insurance for a nominal fee, or upgrading to Priority International (cost will depend on country).

Q: How will you handle customs for international orders?
A: International orders will be declared as gifts, with a value of $45 per box. We will not be responsible for customs tax, duties, or other fees, nor will we be responsible if your package is confiscated.

The kraken by Rainbow Honey

This product was provided as a press sample. All thoughts are my own.

About the color: The Kraken is a marine jelly with a blue and green glow filled with glitters, shimmer, and the sea monster’s own holographic Crashing Boom Bang!

I love the Pirates of the Caribbean movies and own them all. When I saw the Kraken I fell in love. I love the color the sparkle and the theme behind the polish. If you love POTC movies or just jelly polishes then this polish is something you will want to add to your collection. I have a few swatches to share with you below and a discount code so keep reading!

Darling Diva Polish The Opera House #swatch and #review

I have another polish for review today from one of my favorite indie polish makers. This one is called the Opera House. Here is a little about the polish:

Part of my Battlestar Galactica themed polishes, this is The Opera House. This polish represents the golden light ethereal scene of the Opera House. This has to be one of my personal favorites so far.

This is meant to be a top coat. You could have it opaque in about 3 coats.

This shimmery white polish is full of various sized hexes and squares in white, golden holographic, and gold. Some of the glitters may curl a bit in the bottle, this does not affect how they lay on the nail with your normal routine (basecoat, layering color, glitter polish, gelous (if you so choose) and top coat). Because of the size of the glitters this is meant to be thicker. If you find it a bit thick please add thinner until it reaches your consistency.

**some of the little gold squares do look curled in the bottle but they will lay flat on the nail**

This polish is currently on last call status (Which means when its gone its gone.) at $6 a bottle.

Winter Hyacinth by Femme Fatale #swatch and #review

Winter Hyacinth is a soft teal creme polish with white diamonds and hexes, as well as fuchsia and rose hexes both in metallic and holographic finishes. Bright, fun and not to be missed :) Each bottle is made to order using a 3-Free base!

I used 2 coats with no topcoat. The application of this polish was amazing. I had no issues with glitter dragging to the edge. The dry time was quick, by time I got done applying the first coat on the last nail the first were dry.  My friends were all asking me about this polish. This polish is so beautiful it lasted a week without chipping and was still perfect when I removed it.

Spanked by Super Black Lacquers Swatch and Review.

I received the following product in exchange for review. All thoughts are my own.

Spanked is tied with Heather for my favorite out of this collection.

I used 2 coats with no Topcoat over a clear basecoat for each of these pictures. The pictures were taken with both my Camera and my iPhone. When I first applied this I immediately thought the color was a fuschia and cranberry. I can't wait to wow you with this color!

Here is some info from SBL website:
Spanked is a wine-colored linear holographic polish. Shimmering cranberry red in low light, with a prismatic holo effect in sunlight or full-spectrum indoor light. Opaque in 2-3 coats with a semi-matte finish. Skip the top coat with our holographic polishes to get the most prismatic effect...don't worry, the polish is long lasting and chip resistant without it!

Check out all the swatches after the break!

Purple Dreams and Fairy Magic by Nail Honey

I received the following product in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts are my own.

Bee sent me a polish she made for me as a custom. It was left unnamed and I had to ask my blogger friends to help me name it. I took a combination of names they suggested and came up with Purple Dreams and Fairy Magic.

This is a purple base with large black and silver hexes, silver bar glitter. Medium hexes in silver and blue. It also contains tiny purple, blue and red hexes and silver micro glitter. Check out my swatches!

Guilty by Super Black Lacquers Swatch and Review.

I received the following product in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts are my own.

Guilty from Super Black Lacquers is a yellow toned gold. I don't have a lot of gold colors in my polish collection because gold has never been a color I have enjoyed... until now. A gold holo is just what I needed.

Here is more about Guilty from SBL website:
Our gold holographic polish. In the shade, it is a subtle metallic gold, but when you're in the sun or full-spectrum indoor lighting, the polish explodes in a gold holographic rainbow. Opaque in 2-3 coats, with a semi-matte finish. We recommend that you skip the top coat with our holographic polishes to maximize the effect!

Guilty is $12.00

My co-workers didn't understand what I was so excited about when I first brought the polishes in. They like to paint their nails but they aren't polish addicts and didn't know what a Holographic polish was. My co-worker named Jess used Guilty and at first she wasn't much impressed because she doesn't like gold much either.

These are her nails after she painted them with Guilty. She was in a hurry so I snapped these before she took off from work that morning.  When she came back in that night she told me about how she walked outside and her nails just BAM exploded into rainbows! Needless to say she is in love now! If you want to see Guilty in action click read more to see the many many pictures I have waiting for you after the break.

Heather by Super Black Lacquers Swatch and Review.

I received the following product in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts are my own.
I was sent 3 colors from Super Black Lacquers all holo and all take my breath away. Heather is the purple one and I can't decide if I like Heather or Spanked better because they both leave me drooling.
***Super Black Lacquers will be referred to as SBL from here on in this review.***

I used 1 coat and was amazed by the results but added another coat just to be sure. The dry time was a dream almost no waiting at all! There was no sun while I was reviewing the SBL I received so all 3 are shown in flash to show you the beautiful color and holo these have. I applied Heather to my right hand at first and I am right handed so I wasn't happy with the paint job and I haven't quite tamed the hang nails on my right. However I do love how well the pictures show the holo so please ignore the poor state of my right hand and enjoy the beauty that is Heather. I promise my swatch hand (left) looks much better and I did Heather on there as well.

Be prepared I have a ton (not literally a ton!) of pictures for you.
These were taken with both my point and shoot and my iPhone 5S.

Coffee Break from Nail Honey Swatch and Review.

I received the following product in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts are my own.

Coffee break is one of the neutrals being made by Nail Honey this fall and it reminds me of a cappuccino. This is a nice brown with gold shimmer.
Here is a macro of Coffee break so you can see that gold very well here.
