House of Dragon, season 1, gives us an insight into Westeros's past. Set two centuries before Game of Thrones, the show follows the rise and fall of House Targaryen. It features stunning visuals and political intrigue that keep viewers hooked. The show is darker and more intimate than GOT, following power struggles, betrayal, and the consequences of ambition.

The cast is well selected captivating with each moment. Emma D'Arcy as Rhaenyra Targaryen shows us the struggle of a woman who craved more—power, recognition, and control over her destiny. Throughout House of the Dragon, her ambition and desire for the throne were central to her character. The similarties between her and Daenerys both in looks and character makes me feel a few different things. One that I am sad that two centuries later women are still fighting for their rights to be considered more than just pawns. Two that Daenerys hunger for power was as if inherited. I can't wait for the next seasons of House of Dragons to see what other similarities arise.

This first season had me hooked, and knowing roughly how things will unfold didn't ruin the surprises the show brought. I haven't started season 2 yet, but I'm excited to see what it brings next. Have you seen the show? What are your thoughts so far?

Captain Planet: Complete Franchise

I think you would have to go far and wide to find someone in my generation (the older ones anyway) who doesn't have some kind of memory of this show. I remember watching it in the one bedroom that my mom and I shared when I was very young. I can picture sitting in front of the tv and everything else fades away. I love that all these shows that played such a big part of my childhood are being released on to physical media. I unfortunately never saw a full series as a kid because there was always some reason I ended up missing episodes weeks at a time and now I got the chance to watch the entire series in one place in a easy-to-store package.

I don't know about you but I didn't realize they had made movies as part of the series but they did and it was so amazing to see them and have them in this set. It is truly one for the collection and if you were a fan as a child I would recommend this set.

 I was shocked to see names in the voicecast that I recognized and had never known were part of Captain Planet. LeVar Burton influenced me in the reading rainbow and Whoopi was in so many movies my parents loved and I watched with them. Who can forget Meg Ryan who influenced us in RomCom movies during my most formative years. It literally blew my mind when I read the information included in this PR package. That is when I learned about CPF as well. I have included information below about the Foundation.

Dexter’s Laboratory The complete Series review

Dexter's lab came out when I was 8 and was a show I grew up watching on the weekends with my dad. With 78 episodes I found a few I had never seen before. I am glad to have this in my collection. You can also get Dexter's lab Digitally from Amazon Prime Video, AppleTV, Google Play, Fandango at home, and more.

This series is perfect for any 90s kids in your life or for the kids in your life now. The Box set comes with a sleeve with dexters glasses cut out so you see the case below it making for a cool effect. I normally don't keep the cardboard sleeves but this makes me want to keep it as long as possible. The inside sits inside the plastic case and is not attached. I like this better than other sets they have made because they did not get damaged in shipping like the others in the past which were part of the outside case. The case is flexible which is great for preventing breakage in the mail but makes it harder to open and close. Inside is a booklet with the seasons and episode lists. Going into full detail about each segment included in each episode.

The seasons show 6 in this set but online shows that there were originally only 4 seasons with the majority of the episodes being in season 2. It appears this was changed in this release and the seasons were separated into 12-14 episodes per season in this set.

My weekends were filled with many episodes of Dee Dee Torturing poor Dexter. I never quite understood how they could be so different from each other. As an adult, I know that this does sometimes happen in families but as a kid, I wondered if one of them was adopted. The music score to this show is iconic and even before watching these again they still float around my mind to this day almost 20 years later. 

I still have the final season to go, and I will finally know what happens at the very end. I have been going back and watching childhood shows though to finally complete them and know all there is to know. This will be a wonderful addition to the list of completions.

I am so happy to see my childhood being released one show at a time and I can't wait to see what they pull out of the vault next.

Wednesday Season 1 Review

I remember when I first heard about this show was coming out. Immediately knew I needed to watch it. The style of the show was something I loved from the start. While some think it was basic it drew me in. The Window design in the room shows Both Enid and Wednesday style made me smile. Honestly its like the 2 sides of me, my love of the dark and spooky but my love of color as well. I need some merch with the window on it added to my collection.

Smiling friends Season 1 review

 Today I have another TV review. Thank you to our friends over at Warner Brothers for providing this for review.

This one is about a show called Smiling Friends, season one which is now on DVD and Blu-ray.

I came in the show not knowing what to expect because I had never heard of the show. And one of my friends saw a photo I posted and told me they love the show. I watched all but the last two episodes over the period of about a week.

We baby bears series review

 

This show is something that has a nice art style and is super cute. The voice acting is good and not grating on the ears, Although as an adult the show quickly gets boring. Each episode in essence is the same story line but just a different path to the same ending. The art style and the music is what kept me watching because I wanted to see what would be done next. It shows quite a bit of inspiration of the Anime art style. Panda is my favorite I think its the eyes.

I feel like in the end this show would be enjoyed more by younger children it does have some things that I feel may be for older audiences.

                                                    

I recommend that if you are an adult to skip this one and go with we Bare bears which has the same characters with a different story line and as adult bears. We Bare Bears came first and We Baby bears came after the popularity of the original. While myself have not see the original I have it on my to watch list and have been recommended it by many fans when I talked with them about this series.

The Venture Bros.: The Complete Series review

 I watched the show very little when I was in high school. It was something that I picked up here and there when we had cable. I always felt like it was a similar vibe to Jonny quest, which was a show that I watched a lot as a younger kid. And now looking it up, I find out that that was actually quite intentional, which makes it even funnier. I started again recently with the season one when I receive these discs for review.  Boy was it more graphic than I remember. It had my husbands head turning in the other room like what are you watching. He’s old fashioned and doesn’t watch anime or cartoons and in his head cartoons for adults didn’t exist until he saw this. Honestly the first few episodes feel like early game of thrones where it’s sex sex sex all the time but they don’t directly show it just enough so you know what’s happening.

It’s hilarious how things that I recognize now that I wouldn’t have known then. Now Dr. Byron Orpheus reminds me of dr strange whereas when I was younger I would have thought Vincent Van Ghoul from Scooby doo and the 13 ghosts. Honestly though it could be either but adult me leans to dr strange.

The Time Traveler's Wife television show review

This recently just came out on DVD and it's the complete series, which will get back to that in a bit.I binged the whole first disc right away, and I don't know why I forgot there was the second disc for a minute there. Where I thought it ended I was very angry. And then a couple days later, I went to the TV to watch something and I realized there was a whole other disc in here. This TV show is featured around Claire and Henry and it's basically the story of how they met & how they fall in love. It's really interesting the way It happens because you see him bounce back and forth as different ages.  Henry gravitates to tragedies in his life and big events but his life definitely seems to center around Claire and he is like drawn to her like a magnet through her whole life. 

I really liked how they did it. Some of the storylines really made me cry, some made me laugh and Overall, I was really into the show. Sadly this show only got one season. I don't know why it was canceled, but HBO canceled it and so this one season is all we will ever get.

Get Nostalgic With Cartoon Network Review Ed, Edd n Eddy/Foster's Home For Imaginary Friends

These collections are something I never thought I would see on disc and be able to own. Thank you so much to Warner bros for providing a copy for review. These are 2 shows I grew up with on weekends with my dad. We didn't have cable up until about the time Ed, Edd n Eddy came out and I watched it as much as I could on the weekends.

I have enjoyed to be able to watch these shows from start to finish in the order they were intended vs the random episode I grew up on. While some things made more sense this way some others were the same. These shows weren't so reliant on watching them in order to understand what was happening. It was honestly a simple time in cartoons but I loved them and still do. Fosters came out when I was older, just in my early years of high school and my tastes had changed over time and I felt like this show still offered entertainment and a good story. I never grew out of cartoons but some things are classics and then sometimes i try to watch something I didn't watch as a kid and I quickly get bored with it.

For me these are like comfort shows because If I am having a bad day I can just sit and watch these and enjoy some nostalgia.

Review: Lucifer: The Complete Fifth Season

Lucifer is one of those shows that grab you and pull you in. I remember when I first found the show I devoured the first 3 seasons in a matter of weeks. Then I had to watch the seasons as they released after that anxiously awaiting each release. Season 4 left me on the edge of my seat, I wondered with lucifer leaving if we would get another season. When I saw the announcement of season 5 confirmed I jumped up and down.
