I think you would have to go far and wide to find someone in my generation (the older ones anyway) who doesn't have some kind of memory of this show. I remember watching it in the one bedroom that my mom and I shared when I was very young. I can picture sitting in front of the tv and everything else fades away. I love that all these shows that played such a big part of my childhood are being released on to physical media. I unfortunately never saw a full series as a kid because there was always some reason I ended up missing episodes weeks at a time and now I got the chance to watch the entire series in one place in a easy-to-store package.

Description

When five teens from all over the globe combine the power of their magic rings, they summon Captain Planet, a superhero who uses earth, wind, fire, water, and heart to combat the vile villains out to pollute the environment. Media master Ted Turner's socially conscious animated series ran from 1990-96 and featured the voices of such celebrities as Whoopi Goldberg, LeVar Burton, Martin Sheen, Sting, and Meg Ryan.114 episodes on 15 discs. 10 hrs. Standard; Soundtrack: English Dolby Digital stereo; audio commentary; interviews; more.

I don't know about you but I didn't realize they had made movies as part of the series but they did and it was so amazing to see them and have them in this set. It is truly one for the collection and if you were a fan as a child I would recommend this set.

I was shocked to see names in the voicecast that I recognized and had never known were part of Captain Planet. LeVar Burton influenced me in the reading rainbow and Whoopi was in so many movies my parents loved and I watched with them. Who can forget Meg Ryan who influenced us in RomCom movies during my most formative years. It literally blew my mind when I read the information included in this PR package. That is when I learned about CPF as well. I have included information below about the Foundation.

About Captain Planet Foundation (CPF)

Captain Planet Foundation is an award-winning, US-based NGO that works collaboratively to engage and empower young people to be problem solvers for the planet.

Over the past 33 years, more than 1.7 million children have directly participated in CPF’s programs, which have funded 3,700+ projects, impacting 11.4 million young people around the globe. CPF’s operating programs include: Project Learning Garden which has provided 675+ U.S. elementary schools with onsite learning laboratories and healthy food access; Green Heart STEM Challenge for Environmental Justice, which supports 6th – 8th grade students as they innovate and develop place-based solutions to the biggest challenges posed by climate change and environmental injustice; and Planeteer Alliance, a global network of young people who are putting their passion and impatience for change into climate ACTION for the planet.

CPF was formed in 1991 and was based on the critically-acclaimed animated series Captain Planet and the Planeteers when it was co-founded by media mogul Ted Turner and series executive producer Barbara Pyle. In 2002, CPF separated from TBS and became a 501(c)3 public charity.

This can be purchased from most major retailers. I did find Amazon to be the most fair with pricing ($15 less than some)
