Barbie Movie Review

I have to say upfront, I love Margot Robbie as Barbie. It shows her range of acting vs the last role I know her in which is Suicide Squad. I love the care and attention given to the sets, the clothing, and the music score. The song that Billie came up with really fits so well with the movie and is nicely scored throughout the movie.

I went into this review not knowing what the story was about, but hearing the glowing reviews from friends and family I found myself wanting to see it. It came shortly after I came home from the Hospital after having surgery. So of course the first day I wasn't in absolute pain I sat down to watch it.

The movie was not the story that I expected. It had parts much deeper than I was prepared for. Ken and his constant need for attention went much further than I could have imagined. It is not often a movie surprises me with its plot. While the first bad guy seems to be the board of Mattel in the end it shockingly is Ryan Gosling's Ken. When he finds the books I never expected it to go where it did. His stupidity and inability to fully understand what he was reading turned into a hilariously twisted version of what he was trying to do.

The movie has a star-studded cast including America Ferrera who I adored in Ugly Betty. Back to everything else, I find it Funny that Ken was basically the villain but Kenough has become so popular. I feel like out of everything in the movie it is what is quoted the most.

I absolutely did not expect the ending to be at the Gyno but with the twist and turns the movie took I shouldn't have been shocked. I wish the movie had been a little longer as I was enjoying the journey but I am convinced their will be a sequel in our future.

  12. I love the lessons from the movie and what America said, so true! ....it's something we needed nowadays, especially as grown ups - Barbie has always been an inspiration but we didn't see it that way when we were kids.
