Carpe diem: What made me realize to seize the day

The other day a co-worker was in a car accident. We work thirds and he had just got off work and was on the way to get his daughter but had to drive to another town to pick her up. He fell asleep at the wheel and crossed into the on coming traffic hitting another car head on. Neither of the people in the other car had a seat belt on. The passenger in that car was a 7 month pregnant woman and she died in the crash. I was in total shock when we were told at work on Monday morning. I was going to post something on here that day but on top of being sick this was just another thing to scramble my mind.


I cant imagine how this will affect his life or having to go through this. From what we hear he will most likely be out of work for a year. When I got home and the old man was going somewhere and I just wanted to hug him because the thoughts of mine were what if something like that happened to him. I have been thinking more of "This could be my last chance to say I love you." and wanting to spend more time together then before. Other thoughts are is the car he owned was the exact one I wanted and now I see the damage and I am rethinking my choice. Life can take some crazy turns and I am heart broken for all involved. I am not christian but I hope,wish, whatever you want to say that all involved are able to heal and continue on after the loss of loved ones and injures received.
