I love this lantern. I think it would be an awesome thing to have as part of your emergency preparedness set up. I live in a place where tornadoes are common and lets face it in a situation like that a tiny flashlight doesn't do much good. I can use this on low or high settings and because it has a blinking mode I can use it to signal for help as well if I needed.

The top is removable allowing for a stronger light if needed.
I do find opening the battery compartment to be a little challenging but I think over time I will get better and faster at doing it. Currently my issue is just lining them up so it closes properly. You have to make sure to close it correctly for the waterproofing to work. Unlike most other flashlights this baby won't die after it gets wet.
This lantern is quality made and is rugged enough to handle almost anything you could throw at it. I managed to get my jacket caught on it and knock it off the table and it still worked after that. You pair the ruggedness with the waterproofing and you have an amazing product.
