Boba 4G Baby Carrier. Review (Blu me away or Pink of me Event)

So while baby wearing is the new thing around, I must admit I'm totally a newbie, until a couple of months ago I had not a clue what a Soft-Structured carrier was or  how some moms would name or nickname them crotch danglers or perfect ergo. The idea of a ring sling, a pouch or a wrap were like something that came out of a different world. I have a couple of friends who swear by baby wearing and totally convinced me I needed to do it since I'll be nursing my  baby and breastfeeding and baby wearing are like cookies and milk or BFF's. I didn't  know I was starting a journey where half of the time I would feel like Alice in wonderland, completely lost, it was weird for me a stroller mom to listen and learn so much info together.

Most die hard baby wearing moms have to many technical terms and slang. I felt totally out of place and trying to manage my poor English knowledge with all the new terminology the baby wearing world has. After 2 hours in a group convo about the new carriers the pros and cons. I tried to come and look at several blogs and with the brands and names  people drop around, I really tried to look for reviews, if I ever thought my friends were talking a different language well it was quite surprising to figure out  most blog reviews weren't newbie friendly either, the same terms, slang and no explanations. So I decided the only way to actually test it would be to dive into buying one or two and test it out. I bought two second hand baby carriers and 2 months ago Boba was  kind enough to give me the opportunity to review the 4G baby carrier. Lets be clear by no means am I an expert, for this review I had the cooperation of my nephews and some nice friends to try and test with both small babies and toddlers and I did it for no more than 1 hour while babysitting.

My first impression came from looking and inspecting the Boba 4G  it is really light weight, well constructed, sturdy, with lovely prints, comfortable to wear and easy to put on & take off and my favorite part is how the instructions are so detailed and easy to follow. Before the Boba I tested a Bjorn  (I'm not sure about the model) and a Beco Gemini. I hated carrying both small babies and toddlers in the Bjorn it made my back and shoulders hurt and my nephew (almost 20 months old) kept complaining.  Between the Boba and the Beco the problem came with little babies the Beco I have comes with an insert for small babies, while the Boba comes with integrate insert, both carriers are really comfortable to wear for semi long periods of time whether you have a newborn or a toddler.

The Boba comes with removable foot, hood and purse straps, the carrier has a bunch of pockets to keep money keys or your phone at hands reach. The chest strap is easily adjustable. As I already mentioned it's really easy to put the carrier and the baby on and  later take it off slowly. Yet I had some help the first day since I was a tiny bit scared to drop the baby or hurt them by doing it alone. Nothing happened  I did it all by myself like a pro, while my husband was looking at me for extra security and support, The next day I was quite a bit more comfortable doing it alone, that's another difference with the Beco which has a bunch of buckles.

The Boba is designed for a minimum and max height of 5' to 6'3'': which works perfectly for us I am 5'1'' and my hubby around 6'3''. The carrier fits comfortable at waist level a range of 25'' to  58''.  I had a small problem with my nephew smearing yogurt in the straps and the back and it was  really easy to clean the spot with some water and soap. The carrier can be  machine washed in a delicate cycle and line dried. The carrier is really sturdy and the military grade buckles made me feel safe. The Boba offers 2 options to carry your baby in the front which I love for small babies and in the back my nephew loves it since he dislikes to be snuggled. After  all I think I'll do great baby wearing it's fun and I can keep my hands free, while I'm not an expert and I might never be one (which works for me). I'll wear my baby because I like how close we feel. I love hiking and most strollers dont do it well. I really hate to carry the car seat with me so the Boba will be awesome for shopping trips.

  1. I have that same exact one. It's very cute but for some reason I can't seem to make it feel comfortable on me. It's a great carrier though. =)

  5. So random- my cousin literally posted a pic of her using hers this morning on Facebook! She got it a few months ago at her baby shower. She's been "wearing" babies for many years and she specifically registered for this one, so I can vouch for it. The black does get a bit dirty though and if you have pets the hair really likes to stick to it. I'm not sure how she washes it, but it hasn't faded at least which is awesome :)

  12. I'm sure it's a product that a lot of parents with little babies will find practical and functional. It's also perfect for those who like to bring with their babies with them.

  13. I actually really wanted to "wear" my baby when out and about, but somehow, despite having a similar product, it never happened for me. My wife had and used a few different products. As an Australian, I know she would have fallen in love with the boba's kangaroo design.

  26. I'm sure that aside from the paper instruction, they also have a website and some videos where the how-to is illustrated. It seems easy to use and very convenient for carrying babies!
